About Us
Creating value,
Preserving value.
What drives us
Real estate is at the heart of the Widerker Group. We hold and develop our portfolio with our own professional teams – aiming to manage and optimize our assets to the highest standards and to unlock their full potential. We prioritize long-term success over short-term gains.
Value is the overarching theme of everything we do. Our goal is to create value sustainably and to preserve it for the long-term.
We meet this challenge by managing our investments in-house and concentrating all the necessary expertise within our own organization.

We have purposefully set-up our own specialist departments and staffed them with professionals who identify with our company and share our values – some for over two decades.
Our day-to-day business – i. e. asset and property management as well as all construction and technical operations – is conducted by our company bc Boden-Commercial. On the other hand, our company Widerker Investment Management executes investment management, portfolio management and project development functions.
In addition, we maintain strategic investments in selected companies that broaden our operational scope. These investments also, though not exclusively, relate to real estate, reflecting the spirit of our founder, a versatile entrepreneur with remarkable vision.
-
We are proactive and prudent investors deploying our own capital. We grow organically to ensure disciplined, conservative and long-term investment management. Furthermore, the company remains firmly in family hands.
Our ownership structure guarantees stability – in both leadership and strategic direction. Responsibility remains personally anchored with us and constitutes the foundation of our long-established track record.
Our Values and Principles
What we stand for
-
Heritage and Tradition
Our roots go back to a time when entrepreneurial success was above all a matter of personal commitment. This ethos continues to guide our actions today – grounded, clear-sighted and firmly principled.
-
Sustainability and Continuity
We only invest where we are prepared to assume long-term responsibility. Whether through our own developments or strategic acquisitions – we create assets that we hold and manage for the long-term.
-
Responsibility and Trust
We see ourselves as personally accountable – for our decisions, our partnerships and our employees. We act with integrity. We stay grounded and approachable. We earn trust not through words, but through our daily actions.
-
Reliability and Transparency
We keep our word and address issues openly. We think processes through to the end and bring tasks reliably to conclusion. Commitment and transparency define our work – with business partners, tenants and within our own team.
-
Stability and Longevity
We invest our own capital and manage the company as a family business. This creates stability both internally and externally, making us a partner capable of acting decisively even in challenging times.
-
Discipline and Tempo
We act with careful deliberation – in selecting our projects, managing capital and assessing risk. Yet, when decisions need to be made, we act swiftly and purposefully. Clear responsibilities and short reporting lines allow reliable decision making even in challenging situations.
History
The Story of our Family Business
In the 1970s, self-made entrepreneur and company founder Martin Widerker made his first real estate investments, both in Germany and abroad. He generated the necessary capital alongside his engineering studies through entrepreneurial businesses in commercial cleaning and wholesale.
Using this reinvestment strategy, he gradually built up his real estate portfolio.
This success was made possible not least by Karolina Widerker, the founder’s wife, who stood firmly by his side from the very beginning – as a steadfast partner in both, business and life.
Evolution to a Commercial Real Estate Holding
1989 marks a turning point for the company: The Berlin Wall falls, new markets open up and opportunities arise. Bernard Widerker, the elder of two sons, joins the company to support his father. The portfolio steadily expands with additional properties.
In 1999, the Widerker Group increased its investment in the FM sector with the acquisition of UNIVERSAL Gebäudemanagement und Dienstleistungen GmbH in Berlin.
In 2006, Benny Widerker, the younger son, follows suit and takes over the management jointly with his older brother. From this point on, the sons and parents consistently shape the firm into what it is today: a solid and diversified family business that creates enduring value and offers its employees an appreciative working environment.
Sustainability
ESG Factors: Fundamental to who we are
For us as a company, ESG factors – Environmental, Social and Governance – are of paramount importance. Our goal is to make a sustainable and positive contribution through both our investment strategy and our business practices.

Responsible Investing
By integrating ESG criteria, we mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities for sustainable value creation. Particularly in terms of environmental, social and governance standards, we view it as our duty to take responsibility that goes beyond mere financial returns.
For a Sustainable Future
Integrating ESG does more than just safeguard our assets against long-term regulatory, legal and reputational risks. It is vital for preserving and growing family wealth for generations to come.
Our Contribution to Society
We aim to play an active role in driving social and ecological solutions. We see ourselves not merely as investors and asset managers, but also as shapers of a sustainable future.
-
Environmental:
We place a high priority on environmentally sound business practices. This includes the responsible selection and operation of building systems – with a particular focus on climate protection, resource conservation, emission reduction and the sustainable use of energy.
We have subjected every property in our portfolio to a comprehensive ESG screening and the vast majority already meets high standards. New developments are built from the outset in accordance with KfW energy efficiency standards and equipped with renewable energy sources such as district heating and photovoltaic systems to ensure sustainable, energy-efficient operation. Our goal is to seize ecological opportunities and avoid environmental impact wherever possible.
Social:
Social responsibility is deeply rooted in our corporate culture. More than 90 % of our employees hold permanent contracts, promoting continuity, security and trust. We actively support work-life balance through flexible working arrangements with clearly defined core hours. Furthermore, as a company, we fully cover the costs of various training and development programs to enable our employees’ continuous personal and professional growth.
We are also committed to broader societal engagement: We voluntarily support various social projects and make regular donations to charities to contribute to the wider community.
Governance:
We prioritize transparent decision-making processes, clear accountabilities and professional owner-led governance. Our ESG strategy is developed and expanded in close alignment with the owner family’s values and long-term goals.
In short, ESG is not a passing trend for us; it is an expression of our conviction as a responsible company. With a clear strategy, measurable goals and integrity, we implement ESG consistently – for sustainable value creation and for the benefit of our employees, society and the environment.
